Highlights:

1967 - got a Sears drum for Christmas and joined a band the next day. Our first gig was at the Catholic church, we played "My Baby Does the Hanky-Panky".

1969 - started going to music camp at Acadia University every summer (went 3 years), and was playing small party gigs. Played in rock bands as well as big band swing ensmbles.

1970 - started writing charts and arranging for a small combo I was in.

1972 - taught drum lessons in the school music program, started playing in a Dixieland band with older jazz musicians, still playing in rock bands with my friends

1973 - took private piano lessons for about 2 years, and started multi-track tape recording with friends on a Sony 2 track. Was playing in Acadia University stage and concert bands, and bands with my friends playing stuff like Santana (or trying to). When I graduated from high school I got some sort of prizes in music and physics. Hear award song here:


1974 - attended University of Arizona to study drumming. Played outside gigs with jazz trombonist Thomas Ervin. Played tympani in concert band. Got a scholarship but didn't go back the second year.

1976 - played throughout Eastern Canada in horn band, playing drums and writing lots of charts.

1977 - received a grant from the government of Canada with some of my friends to teach music in the public schools. Played in Zeppelin type bands, as well as lots of funk/disco.

1978 - moved to Hawaii started playing clubs, at the Waikiki Broiler for 1 1/2 years with Al Morales and Phil Akau. Played with Hawaiian musicians Keaka and Keone (John Mahuka) on Lewers St.

1979 - at Prince Kuhio with Rudy Aquino from Don Ho and the Ali'is. Played with Mike Lewis in various Jazz Ensmbles. Took drum lessons from Chuck James for over a year. Played drums with Dr. T. and the Torches Big Band. Played with country bands like Don West and Rebecca Penny.

1980 - at the Ala Moana Hotel for 1 1/2 years, and took Stanley Spector's Drum Course for over a year. Played tons of parties, weddings, you name it. Started recording (for free) at Herb Ono's Sounds of Hawaii studio.

1982 - started playing keyboards at gigs, formed a punk group and played at places like the 3D on Kuhio.

1983 - wrote, performed and produced what was probably Hawaii's first MTV type music video. It was featured on the 6 pm news and was played on the Hawaiian Moving Company. I bought my first sequencing/computer MIDI setup.

1984 - started the Computones, a duo with Ross Costa, and played extensively on Oahu, at major hotels and military functions. We were the first band to play at the Pink Cadillac in Waikiki.

1985 - recorded and released two Computones albums - MIDI Madness and We Wish You a MIDI Xmas.

1990 - sequenced and recorded an album with Dick Jensen. Recorded a karaoke CD of Don Ho's hits for Herb Ono, and another Karaoke CD for AC Records.

1998 - recorded and released the CD "Wapaduzi" with John Valentine.

1999 - "Tropical Paradise" CD with John Valentine. Played on John's "Guitars of Hawaii" CD's, vol 1 & 2. I think Mackey Feary's last recording was me and John and him on Vol 2. Sequenced "Sweet Leilani", a play by Jack Cione.

2003 - recorded "Live to Pay the Price" with Mike Watson.

2004 - started playing on the Ali'i Kai Catamaran. For about 4 years, played with many of the top female singers in Hawaii and did a lot of arranging.

2006 - recorded Kui Lee tribute CD.

2007 - recorded original music relaxation CD "Water, Wind and Sand".
