In February of 2007 Mike Watson and I recorded the CD "Water Wind and Sand". The impetus for recording it came from my sister, who was teaching Healing Touch classes in California. None of the music she was using felt right. What's funny is that Mike and I never really liked the kind of music you think of when someone says "relaxation music". Music that sounds like yawning. So we both agreed that we'd really do our best to make it non-boring. Mike used a beautiful 1940's Selmer of Paris tenor sax. Years ago I found a coconut on the beach that was partially full of sand. I picked it up and it was the best shaker I'd ever heard. When I need a shaker in the studio, I grab that coconut first! We really spent lots of time choosing the right pitches and sounds to fit in with the nature around us. We listened to the wind in the trees, and that was the standard for treble. And the rumble of the ocean and thunder was what we were looking for in the bass.
